What is the best cell phone AND plan for me?

I do not have a cell phone. Weird I know, given the world we live in now. I want to get a simple cell phone with limited hassles of dealing with a cell phone company. I just want a simple phone in case of an emergancy. Nothing like. Any suggestions?

Try getting a cheap pay as you go or prepaid cell phone.
You can get a cheap one for about $ 20 that you buy minute
cards for. If your only going to use it for emergencies it will be much cheaper than signing up for a service contract.
