Will a U.S. Verizon cell phone in Niagara Falls, Canada pick up from a New York tower?

I am going to Niagara Falls in a few days, and I know texting through Verizon in Canada costs 25 cents extra per text, but I was wondering, since Niagara Falls is literally two feet from New York, if my Verizon cell phone would pick up from a U.S. tower. Thanks.

It might. Any time I am close to the river in Niagara Falls my cell picks up the American towers but once you go further into the city or away from the border you will commence to pick up others.

Somewhere in the settings menu on your phone there should be a roaming option. Set roaming to home only and your phone will always stay on the Verizion towers. One of the first time I went to the falls my phone roamed over to a US tower and I got hit hard with a 5 minute phone call i thought was free ever since then I set my phones to home only

Possibly, I have T-Mobile and I was in Canada and it worked for a few seconds. Just be sure to check before you text. I just got back from Canada/Niagara Falls last week. Hope it helps.

If you are outside and within view of the U.S. it will doubtless work.

yes it will work ……i was just there it worked unless you go of the city a far way…..but if you stay pretty close to new york side it will work the enitrre time
