I am looking at getting the Samsung Saga or the XV6800. They show they have the Wi–Fi Connectivity but is this only for tie on your mobile phone in a hotspot or so your wireless laptop can connect to your phone when your Wi–Fi Connectivity is on?? Thanks guys!

The wifi feature allows you to connect to a wireless hotspot and your own wireless router at home or a friend’s. Basically, it uses the wireless signal from the router the same way a laptop will.

It’s a nice feature to have if the cell vendor’s network signal is weak or down. I have a T-Mobile G1 that has the feature. I get their 3G network in DC everywhere I work, but only Edge service everywhere I live in Florida. So, if I want to download something or browse the net, I can turn on the wi-fi hardware and hook up to the router. You have to log in to the router with the security key if you use one.

This won’t necessarily connect you to your laptop, but you’ll be on the network.
