How does a flashing cell phone charm work?

How does a flashing cell phone charm work?

I bought a cell phone charm that flashes when I turn on my cell phone and is supposed to sparkle when I get a call (I haven’t had time to test it yet, but I know it flashes when my cell phone comes on).

How does this work? I don’t see any sort of way to open the charm up to replace any sort of battery…will it eventually go terrible or do they generally last a long time?

Answer by Hugo
The charm detects the different radio waves that your phone emits. When you turn your phone on, your phone searches for the network and the charm picks up on that. Same with a call, your phone sends a signal to the network to receive the call. Your charm should last for about a year.

Lars P. Reichelt, CEO of Cell C – The power is in his hands
consumer reports on cell phones

On its ninth birthday, Cell C reports that it has switched on its HSPA+ 900/2100 network in Johannesburg and Pretoria.

The company claims that its launch in the economic hub of the African continent brings both "world-class" speed and pricing, and says consumers will be looking at paying from R0.03c per MB for data at average download speeds of between 4 to 7 Mbps and average upload speeds of between 2 to 3 Mbps.

"Johannesburg and Pretoria are trying to take in and we needed to make sure that our network was tried and tested and ready for our customers before we pushed the button," said Lars Reichelt, CEO of Cell C.

He states that since the company started rolling out its new network crosswise the country, it has been "inundated with queries from Gauteng residents, wanting to know when we would be going live in this part of the country"

With the launch of its HSPA+ 900/2100 network, Cell C provides what Reichelt calls "speedcover", adding that "the days of slow, unreliable and expensive internet are officially over."

Cell C's new network will initially take in 62 percent of the population in the greater Johannesburg and Pretoria region, with 89 percent population coverage of the area plotted by the end of January 2011.

At the same time as its Johannesburg and Tshwane launch, Cell C says it has also officially opened its new HSPA+ network nationally for all unfilled Cell C customers.

"Cell C customers that have UMTS 900 competent mobile phones or USB data sticks can now use Cell C's superfast data tie and will experience much better voice call quality," clarified Reichelt.

I have a cell phone right now that is unregistered and has no service on it, and was wondering if I had too can I call 911 on it. I read in a Consumer Reports magazine 2 being ago, that a subscriber had written in the consumer feed back, that even if your cell phone is unregistered or has no service you can call 911. But that your cell digit will not show up on their screen, Even if it is advanced 911. Is this right? Thanks

Answer by Mike
From what I have read you can, though, I have never attempted to.

Answer by camilla261
not sure about 911 i’d imagine so though. here in australia you can dial 000 with no credit or service.

Answer by The Other Dave
The cell phone companies can not legally block a 911 call. So if you have a charged cell phone but no service the 911 call will still go through (but nothing else will)

Answer by karthikeyan g
i reckon u can,,,,as long as there is some providers signal in the area,,,,

Answer by JSatt
Yes, you can.

My husband and I are looking for a low rate on a shared cell phone plan. Who’s the best around?

Answer by dms
If it’s truly for emergencies only, then why not use a pre-paid plan – you add minutes to the plan as you need them (because you’ve used them, or they have expired).

Answer by miketorse
You should seriously consider using the cell phone in all cases, NOT just for emergencies. It’s cheaper to only have the basic HOME phone plan just for emergencies!

Or give up your home phone – (You can still use your home phone for 911 even without phone service)

Answer by Jason F
If you only want to use it for emergencies. You can buy a Motorolla V170 at Family dollar for $ 35 and charge it with a TracFone card that can be purchased in various locations including Wal-Mart. If you use coupons, you can get the minutes down to about 4 cents and you eliminate the monthly charge, taxes and fees of a normal cell plan. We have had a TracFone for 2 years and we have had no problems using it anywhere, even when we were in Alaska. If you aren’t talking on the highway or at the produce counter in the grocery, you will find 2000 minutes goes a long way.

How much does it cost to be a cell phone carrier?

How much does it cost to be a cell phone carrier?

I am looking into either buying a tower or buying space on one and am wondering if anyone can point me to a reliable place to find costs associated with running a cell phone company or with being a cell phone carrier. Thank you.

Answer by Jay
I know this is lacking details, but…

Running a cell phone company will require millions (tens or hundreds, potentially) is capital.

There’s a reason that there are so few cell phone carriers. And a reason that several of them are actually just buying service from the others (e.g., Virgin is really Sprint, I believe).

Unless you have access to several million dollars, I’m not sure what your business plan is.

As far as places to get more information, I’d try the Wireless Carrier Association.

My dad is moving to Nigeria and is looking for a cell phone plan that would be the cheapest for him to make calls to the U.S. What would be the best carrier?
Also, if anyone has other suggestions, I’m open to other ideas as well.

Answer by sporty political mr.
It will have to be a Nigerian cell-phone company..

or an unlocked phone..

other than that..he can’t get sign with a carrier from the U.S or Canada or any other place out of Nigeria.

Answer by Nasir
MTN Nigeria has the cheapest long distance call rates.

Answer by Obama4America
Its by far Stacomms, which is #12 per min. I had both Stacomms and MTN and Stacomms was the cheapest, also if you call him from US its cheaper for you to call stacomms (which is a land line in the body of a cell phone) than MTN or any other one. Now he might want to use MTN within Nigeria (they have better network)

If you’re joining someone else’s plan, they’re not going to bargain with YOU, they’ll be interested in talking to the person who has the contract.

They don’t care about what you want, in their eyes you’re not the one paying the contract.

Can my friend sue me for selling his cell phone?

Can my friend sue me for selling his cell phone?

About one year ago, my friend let me borrow his cell phone, and as long as I returned it eventually, I could hold on to it. It would still be his officially authorized property, though. But I erased all data from the phone and then sold it without his permission. Now he’s asking me for it back. I clearly no longer have the phone, so he’s asking me to pay in cash the price of a new equivalent phone. I don’t want to pay him back, but I said I could simply give him a used equivalent phone. He refuses to take the used phone and questions for the quantity in cash that it would take to pay for a new phone.

We have no written contract, only a verbal agreement. My argument is that a phone is a phone, and that as long as he gets a phone in the end, it doesn’t matter which phone he gets. His argument is that he entrusted me to hold on to his phone, but then I sold his officially authorized property without his permission. I therefore cannot negotiate with him. He refuses to accept the substitute because the phone I sold was the one specifically that he questioned for back. He made the comparison that if he borrowed my computer and sold it, he would also be obligated to buy me a new one.

Who is right in this case? If he took me to a small claims court, would he win?
Would I really lose this case? I have a few more details to add:

1. I really needed the money terribly at the time I sold the phone.
2. If he was a friend, then he would just accept my ancient phone and not demand “free money.”
3. The phone he gave me was a black iPhone 3G S. I am charitable him a white iPhone 3G S, which is equivalent or greater in value than the original one he gave me. If my friend gave me a used $ 5000 Camry or something and wanted it back, and I sold it and offered him a used $ 10,000 Acura instead, why would he still demand a new equivalent Camry?

Answer by Comicbook Reader
He would win. You breached a verbal contract and sold his property without his permission. He is under no obligation to take a used phone. It isn’t your pronouncement as to what phone he should take. You were in the incorrect, not him. You should have given him the cash you received for the phone, not keep it for yourself.

Answer by bcnu
First, you are what is generally renowned as a thief and could be charged with the crime of embezzlement of property. You had a contractual obligation to return the phone and rather than keep it for that eventuality, you chose to sell it for your own profit.

Second, you could be sued for “conversion” of property that doesn’t belong to you (i.e., converted it to your own use by way of obtaining cash for it).

Third, when you are sued (and they agree not to file criminal charges), the best they could hope for (absent return of the exact phone in question) is the equivalent VALUE of the depreciated phone that is now over a year ancient. They could question for punitive hurts but that is unlikely to go over very well in court, based upon the “breach of contract” on top of your tortious conversion of goods.

In other words, you do NOT have to buy them a new phone with equivalent features, you just have to give them the money that the phone you had (and sold) would be worth now. They cannot profit from your “mistake” and all they would get back would be the ancient phone, if you still had it, so you are only obligated to pay for what the ancient phone would be worth.

Answer by cameronissim…
sounds like you both had a verbal contract too which you posted here as proof you did. It said you would return said phone and not one of the equivalent value but the same phone… there lies the conundrum as you sold the Original phone which is a breach of contract too which you had a verbal agreement too return..

one of the common laws is, not too be mischiefs in your contracts too which you broke

Answer by Prorkycake
Your friend would win and your logic is incorrect. The phone was lent to you with the intention of being returned. If the judge believes your friend, this situation would more liable than not be seen as a officially authorized, binding verbal contract. It meets the elements of a contract. If he can prove he bought the phone, it would set up ownership. The original agreement was not for the return of “a cell phone”. It was the return for his specific phone. By all officially authorized interpretations, your friend hit the nail on the head and would win against you without hesitation.

By promotion the phone, you can also be charged with conversion which is the civil equivalent to theft. Conversion occurred the minute he demanded his phone back and you refused.

You are not right in any way, shape or form. You will be ordered to pay his court costs, and the promote value of the phone.

Answer by DaveP
He is morally right; you are legally right. You owe him the value of the phone you unlawfully appropriated (stole) from him. That is the value of the phone (used) as it would be expected to be when you were supposed to give it back to him. If you had complied with your agreement, you would be charitable him back a used phone. He is upset with you for very excellent reason. You are small better than a thief. He is therefore thinking that, because of your terrible behavior, you should be punished by having to give him a new phone. That’s everywhere the “morally right” comes in. He feels a moral indignation toward you. You should sincerely apologize and offer him something more than the used phone was worth. But you shouldn’t have to buy him a completely new phone. If he borrowed your ancient computer and lost, hurt or sold it to another, he would only be responsible to replace what he borrowed–a used computer. Here’s another example: If you loan your car to someone (imagine that it is uninsured) and he wrecks it, does he have to buy you a new one? No. If it is a 1996 Saturn, he has to buy you a 1996 Saturn or pay you the value of a 1996 Saturn. He doesn’t have to buy you a 2010 Camry. Excellent luck. But do realize that you did incorrect and part of his desire to have you buy a new phone arises from his rage and hurt because of your actions.

Michael Jackson is dead, lets all make a buck!! We are all familiar with the commercialization of dead celebrities, but didn’t they used to wait for the body to cool? Joe Jackson has Pricilla Presley on speed dial, getting all the plans and details on how to turn Neverland Ranch into the next Graceland tourist trap and money generator.

Corporations that wouldn’t touch the bedazzled one when he was alive due to his controversy and negative press are pushing everything moonwalk related. In the front of the store and right at your cash register checkout lane.

I wasn’t really thinking about this much, it just seemed to be everywhere yesterday….

since they closed already, so I chose to questioned my questions here. I’ve recently upgraded my phone service to a new 2-year agreement through wirefly.com because they offered smartphones for a real huge discounts and even for free. I got the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10. But now I’m trying to sell it since I need some serious cash lately.
1. So when AT&T charged me the monthly $ 15 data service fee is that mean that I can have unlimited internet access through the phone, just like the iPhone?
2. If I sell the phone, will the buyer be able to access the internet by his own sim card while I’m still paying the $ 15 service fee? Meaning I’m paying the buyer for going to the internet.
Those are the questions for now, and I’m sorry if they seem really dumb to you but I really need some answers asap. Thx so much.

Answer by Kat
1) Yeah I have the $ 15 unlimited plot. It is just unlimited web browsing.

2) If you sell the phone…you don’t sell the plot with it. Most likely you will take out your SIM card and place yours into another phone. Your plot will remain active, but there will be no phone attached to it. The phone you sell will need a SIM card that the buyer will have to provide for himself.

Answer by Let Teddy Win
You can’t just pay somebody else’s $ 15 data fee and have it count towards your contract.

If you can’t afford the data features, then my advice is to return the phone to Wirefly. Otherwise you’re going to get hit with all kinds of cancellation charges.

If you are in the first 30 days, just call Wirefly and question for a return.

Alternatively, you can keep the X10 (which is a really nice phone) and the data features, and sell your ancient phone for cash.

The LG900G has been in promotion in Europe as the LG GW300 for more then a year. When searching for accessories try by GW300 instead of the 900G.

Also, the fantastic thing about the LG900G is that it can use Java based APPS “games, email, maps and social networking programs”. Go to Getjar.com, set your phone as the GW300 and you’ll find a variety of programs.

it all depends on everywhere you live….but verizon is by far the best! at&t is a joke! and sprint doesnt really have that excellent of coverage

Verizon is the best coverage, there is no question about that. AT&T has excellent coverage as well..but again not as excellent as Verizon. Sprint..dont’ waste your time! T-Mobile has better coverage then they do.
I know quit a few peole that have AT&T and I have Verizon..there are NUMEROUS times that I will have reception and they won’t. Usually it does depend on everywhere you live, but all in all Verizon is the best bet.

My phone broke and I don’t want to get a new contract or pay full retail price for a new phone at the Verizon store. Are there any retail stores (not online) that sell used cell phones?

or look on ebay.

Answer by bob p
radioshack and best buy so far i kno in possibly target. but most liable you hav to go to the verizon store and tell them your situation and they will charge you a fee to get your new one in the mail. or you can get a new one from the store for full price naturally it would be like 400 and up for a phone for full price without renewing the contract. so i suggest going to verizon and paying the fee for the new one.

Answer by AshleyB24
Have you tried asking any family or friends, try best buy and even try verizon, I reckon you can turn in used in phones there, I would call or see or nearest verizon store, best house to question, excellent luck

Miami tops rude drivers list; Minneapolis rated nicest

Stressed Miami drivers speed, tailgate and cut off other drivers so frequently that the city earned the title of worst road rage in a assessment unrestricted Tuesday.

AutoVantage, an automobile membership club offering travel services and roadside help, also listed Phoenix, New York, Los Angeles and Boston among the top five cities for rude pouring.

Minneapolis, Nashville, St. Louis, Seattle and Atlanta were rated as the cities with the most courteous drivers, who were less liable to change lanes without signaling or swear at other motorists.

More than 2,000 adult drivers who evenly commute in 20 major city areas were questioned to rate road rage and rude pouring in telephone surveys between January and March. The assessment conducted by Prince Promote Research has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.2 percentage points.

Drivers owned up to some rude behavior themselves: Nearly all said they had talked on a cell phone while pouring, and 64 percent acknowledged they occassionally drive too quick.

Young drivers and people with long commutes were found to be the most liable to react to an aggressive or rude driver. The top reactions included honking the horn, cursing or making an obscene gesture.

No distinct differences were found between male and female drivers.

"Human behavior is so involved with crashes at all levels," said Elly Martin, a spokeswoman for the National Highway Traffic Safety Handing out. "(Aggressive pouring) is a pattern of behavior drivers exhibit over and over."

AutoVantage, based in Norwalk, Conn., hopes to use the assessment to educate people about how to resist road rage. Among its tips are remaining cool and not making eye contact with an mad driver.
