How can a cellular phone company charge you for a phone you did not sign a contract on?

in march 2000 or 2001 i had a phone bought another one had the first one turned off suppostly,then it was stolen reported to the cellular company to turn off,thought that was the end of that,but later they turned my new phone off because the ancient phone was being used in oakhloma with an oakhloma digit.so i paid my bill,but not the other one so they turn mines off.and reported it to all 3 credit union,still on my credit reports.

Something just isn’t right in your tale. You should have gotten a copy of your cancellation of service on the first phone when you got the new phone. They should have turned off your ancient phone ID. To have a cell tie you need to have a grasp between your phones ID and your cell company. If that doesn’t happen you can’t call. After you got the new phone, the ancient phone should not work any more. The only way a cell phone can get an OK digit is to have it registered with a cell company there.

Something is gone. The way you describe it, well, technally it can’t happen. What did you leave out?

Hmm did you file a police report when the first phone was stolen?

You have to dispute this whole situation with the cell phone company. They may insist that you file a police report which will let you dispute the whole thing with the credit reporting agencies.

Of course, this is a lesson for all of us that if you ever see anything weird on your bill you’ve got to call the agency immediately and demand correction immediately or they’ll just let it go on and on and on and then they sell it to a pool agency that has no thought what is going on.

Keep on calling and document your calls with the name of who you talked to and their job title and a summary of what was said. Question them to send you a letter documenting their tale of what happened. Follow up with answer letters documenting what really occurred. You can also call the local officially authorized aid association to see if the state has any type of “bill of rights” concerning credit disputes such as this.

Yes you can keep your digit.Just to cancel out your account that you have now.It will cancel out on its own when porting you digit over. You can go to your local U.S. Cellular store & they can help you transfer the digit over for you. Go to phonescoop web site or cnet.Look up the phone & click the review tab to read if the phone is excellent or terrible.
