How to use a recycled cell-phone?

If I were to take a cell-phone out of the recycling bin,what would I have to do to activate it in my name?
We have a box of ancient cell-phones at work and I was wondering if I were able to somehow place one to use(provided it was still in excellent enough condition to do so).

is it a company phone?
if not, and its a phone for like t-mobile or cingular (one of those sim card phones) then you can just take your sim card out and place it into the other phone.

if it is like verizion i believe you have to call them and tell them, and they should then be able to help you out.

try www.nextworth.com, if you have the box, charger and manual you may be able to get a few bucks – they pay thru paypal

cell phones don’t have a huge resale value

It depends on the type of phone you have for example Sprint has its own house to send the cell phones and they give you money. First you need to question your phone company if they have it. usually when you buy a phone it comes with the recycle bag and everywhere you can send it…..well i hope this helps… excellent luck
