Does anyone out there, have a thorough answer of how to get and activate a prepaid cell-phone in South Korea?

I go to Korea every month for business, and the cell-phone rates at the airport are crazy.. Last December, I got stuck with a $ 1,000 bill. I know, I talked and texted like crazy but still.

I heard through the grapevine that, they do have prepaid cell phones, but everyone has a different answer? What’s up? Someone help me please.

Preferably a Korean…

you may order it one tracfone.com, and may be able to sign up with Verizon plans online.

If you come to Korea frequently, I recommend that you get a Korean pre-paid card phone. You can go to Dongdaemun shopping district and get the cell phone using your passport. You just need to buy the pre-paid card to top up the phone everytime.

With the rise of the cell/mobile phone, public payphones have virtually disappeared. Here, at a highway rest stop in North Carolina, we get the picture. If you park here with an emergency, but no cell phone, you are out of luck! All this has happened rather quietly, without much public discussion, to my notice, anyway. We own a cell phone, but cannot use it at our house, due to a poor/non-existent signal. The person who cannot afford to pay the going rate to "the providers" is out of luck. I expect my opinion is that of a dinosaur.
Here is a bit of recognition of the situation, at least. Citation needed, I see.

Cell-phone rates are ridiculous. What’s the cheapest phone card out there?

The cheapest way to call a European cell is by Skype, works out to about 2 cents a minute.
