Q&A: Can Verizon really track your cell phones to find your location?

Q&A: Can Verizon really track your cell phones to find your location?

I’m in college and I went to go visit my boyfriend three hour car drive away. My parents found out and they said they saw it on my phone bill – that I was in another city during that time. Is that even possible, to see which city I’m making the cell phone call from? Is it possible to see it on the phone bill?

But it also might be because maybe they looked at my text messages. Is it possible for Verizon to put all the text messages on the phone bill?

The main answer : Yes. When you go to a different city outside your calling area you will recieve roaming charges for how ever many calls you made in that area, along with how long you’ve been in that are.

Texts are recorded in to a large record database, they can be handed out to any customer of Verizon (or any phone company) with a simple call.

Here is the truth. The answers are “NO’ they cannot see your text messages without a court ordered supeona and no they cannot get your location without downloading the parent or child Chaperone application in duplicate on the cell phones used to track and be tracked. They cannot run the chaperone program without your phone having it and it doesn’t happen without your knowledge. There is a big green picture of it in your download list if you have it.

Do you know how they still managed to find out?
Without all of that…..
They are the account holders. They cannot figure out who calls who, but they can check the incoming or outgoing call lists to display what cell towers they were connected to. If I made a call 5 minutes from Buffalo NY and told them i was in Medina NY which is 40 minutes in the other direction – The cell tower to pick up the signal will be the one thats only 5 minutes away! It will show up as Buffalo, and essentially the phrase is now ‘busted’. They can get the towers to list online with pretty accurate results within 1-2 towns. i guarantee you passed through more than one or two towns on a 3 hour drive. So now you know.
P.S. They can look this up but you can’t. Only the account holder’s have acess to this portion of the site. For everyone else as a side note “NO” They can’t give out text messages to any Verizon caller ‘simply by calling.’ It’s not true and actually illegal. Without A court ordered supeona it will be pointless to try to ask. Verizon does not carry everything in the data base and with over 80 million customers, They dont have time to. They only research the info when ordered by the court system.

Good luck

Springfield IL – Paul Findley Federal Building (Erected 1930)
find cell phone location

The Paul Findley Federal Building in downtown Springfield made the national news in September 2009 when Michael C. Finton (a.k.a. Talib Islam) attempted to detonate what he believed to be one ton of explosives packed in a van which he parked outside the building. According to news reports, authorities with the Federal Joint Terrorism Task Force had been aware of Finton's plans for more than 18 months. The Al-Qaeda operative Finton believed he had been working with to arrange for the fabrication of the explosive device, was actually an undercover FBI special agent, and there were no explosives in the fan.

Finton was arrested after attempting to detonate the "device" using a cell phone from a remote location. Finton was indicted by a federal grand jury on October 8th for attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction against property owned and used by the United States.

The Photoshop poster edges effect has been lightly applied in the processing of this image.

You are invited to stay and browse through my photostream. Here’s a quick index to my Flickr site:

Springfield, Illinois
: All of my photographs of Springfield and the Abraham Lincoln Sites are in this collection. For the City of Springfield, there are separate sets for the Capitol Complex, Downtown (including the Old State Capitol), Neighborhoods, Parks, Illinois State Fairgrounds (and past State Fairs), and more. Photographs of Lincoln sites include the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, Lincoln Home National Historic Site, Lincoln Tomb, and so on. Also in the Lincoln "All About Abe" (Set) are a few Lincoln sites not located in Springfield.

Central Illinois (except Springfield)
: Photos relating to the middle section of the "Land of Lincoln" (except for the Capital City of Springfield) may be found in this collection. Every city and town I’ve photographed is contained within its own set, and rural (as in "counrtyside") photographs are grouped by county.

Beyond Central Illinois
: Other locales in the United States and Canada including New York, Chicago, San Francisco and Seattle.

In addition to my location-based sets, here are links to some "topical" collections and sets I’ve put together:

Automobile Photograph Collection
: This is a very large collection of images whose primary, but not exclusive, focus is on American automotive classics. Images are organized by decade, by manufacturer, and by topics (such as convertibles, station wagons, muscle cars, etc.)

Barbers & Barber Shops
: Traditional barbers and barber shops are on the endangered species list. But there are still plenty to be found if you go looking for them.

Almost Everything Else. Check It Out!!!
: Included topics range from man’s first walk on the moon to small town schools and churches, and from Soft-Coated Wheaten Terriers (our favorite breed) to things that are abandoned, neglected, weathered, or rusty.
