Are online cell phone plans offering free phones a scam?

Are online cell phone plans offering free phones a scam?

The offers include enough mail in rebates to get the phone for free, but are they worth it? Are there any catches? I’m looking at a Sprint plot, but all the major carriers have them. It’s really a lot cheaper than dealing directly with the carriers, and one Sprint phone rep told mw I should go online and not through her.

no they are not scam. if you deal with a dealer instead of the courier, the dealers get paid for activating you as well as a continued income as long as you stay with the service. the phones aren’t that expensive. it’s all about the commisions, so charitable a phone at a lower profit margin doesn’t really hurt the dealers. doing so will attract more customers resulting in more sales of contract. word of mouth is the cheapest and best advertisment for any business. you are helping them everytime you tell someone else about their service. in a way, the cheap/free phone is payment for your advertising service.

it may be a scam and could very well be, read all of the fine print to determine. Make sure you save a copy (of the small print) as proof in case it is a scam and you need to take them to court.
