What's the most economical cell phone......?

to buy to use on a driving trip out west for emergencies. Asker is senior citizen who never had a cell phone before. Would like to avoid signing up for services committing me to long term contract.

Start with Jitterbug. This is a cell phone without all of the fancy technology like internet and the things that can be confusing to seniors.

I recommended it to my Dad, who describes it as a ‘brick with an antenna’ but this would probably serve your purpose.

As far as the contract goes, I do not know if they offer pay as you go plans. However if that is the priority then try one of those Net 30 phones.

You can pick it up at Wal-Mart for $ 30 with 300 minutes and can use it for 90 days. No long-term contract and pretty simple to operate.
