Unlocked means’ you could put in any sim card from any Company !

‘Unlocked’ refers to the SIM subsidy lock. This is put there by the operator that is selling you the phone to force you to only use their SIM card in it and thus generate revenue for them. Unlocking the phone will let you put any SIM card in there.

An unlocked GSM device must be used on a GSM network, such as AT&T or T-mobile. It will not work on Verizon as they are CDMA (though I have recently heard they are starting to add GSM to their network in the near future)
