How do I activate a new phone on my current cell contract?

How do I activate a new phone on my current cell contract?

I am looking at upgrading the cell phone to a Blackberry. If I hold the phone somewhere else besides my cell phone carrier store, how do I add the phone to the plot? I want to stop using my ancient phone and use the new Blackberry instead and simply use the same phone number. How do I exchange phones?

You should just be able to take the phone to the carrier and have them activate it for you. But their may maybe be some issues with software. Because your carrier may sell their Blackberry’s with their software.

You can call your service provider as long as it is the same kind of phone as what your service providers phone is they will activate over the phone.

I currently have a Nokia 6102 (Cingular). I like the features of the phone: color show, IR so I can upload my own pics and ringtones, excellent battery, ok camera, very customizable. The conundrum is, I cannot HEAR anyone when they talk! I have the phone turned up to max volume and if I don’t have it positioned just right on my ear, I can’t hear half of what someone says. I’m really not interested in an earpiece, I don’t care about bluetooth (one more business for me to lose), I would just like a phone that I can talk on. Does anyone have a suggestion as to the best phone you can really hear on that has some of, or all of the above features? I don’t need or want anything extravagant, just something that works.

You have reasonably a piece of gear, if it does all that :)
My opinion is a phone should be a phone, but–
Turn down the volume, you have it way too high.
The conundrum might very well be a defective mic in the handset. Not sure what kind of warranty Cingular has, but a manufacturer has one year, it sounds (pardon the pun) like a manufacturer defect in the mic to me, take it to the store,
Excellent luck,
Linda
