Does the cell phone driving laws apply to CB radios? I always wondered about that when I used my Nextel...?

I admit it, I have talked on my nextel while driving. I have the speaker on and the phone is closed. I always feel like a trucker using a CB radio, especially because you can pretty much call or twoway anyone with the pressing of two buttons and you don’t even need to open the phone.

SO, since the cell phone driving laws came into effect, I haven’t stopped doing this because I feel like it is nothing more than a cb radio. Do I have a case?

I actually just got rid of my nextel, so this really won’t matter to me much anymore, but I am still curious. I also won’t be on the phone while driving anymore…cuz without the nextel…I see how dialing and driving as well as holding a phone up to your ear is incredibly distracting.

Look up the statute and read it, if it doesn’t specify than it is not the law!

Right now, I have a motorola i730 (Nextel). I want to buy a new phone but I want to use my old sim card. I’m looking at buying a New Motorola V9 on Ebay. Will my sim card work in this phone? Does anyone know if nextel Sim Cards can be used in boost mobile phones or any other brands of phone? Is there an easy to tell what brands of phones you can use an old sim card in.

The phone must be unlocked. If its unlocked I don’t think you will encounter any problems. However, I believe that the V9 is 3G, and there’s the possibility that your current sim card doesn’t support this feature; you are able to use the phone anyway, you just can use the 3G network.

No you cannot use a Motorola V9 for Nextel whether it is unlocked or not. The only phones that will work with a Nextel sim card are iDen phones. Thats the technology used for Nextel and Boost phones. The best phones right now on eBay that have MP3 players and video cameras are:
