Anyone here kept your cell phone number after changing companies?

Anyone here kept your cell phone number after changing companies?

The new cell phone comany I want to go to says to keep my cell number, I must bring in my phone with an active contract with my old cell phone company. So, once you switch, would you be breaching the contract with your old cell phone company? Do you have to pay fines? Do you wait until the last day of your contract, or can you leave anytime during your last month?

Answer by pt5971
when you switch companies your old company looses your number, hince your number is your account , if you are still under contract then that is a breach of contract… so you wait til the day after your contract is over and then you switch companies… cause once your contract is over and you still got your service you are free to loose your sevice with them at anytime with no penalties

ya u can keep ur old number u just have to ask the people when u go to change to make sure its the same number

Most contracts have early cancelation penalties.

Answer by jahlaune
You would be breahing the contract but its tricky. if you plan on breaching the contract. when you order your new services just switch the number. or if you dont want to breach simply get a new number for the old plan at the lowest plan they have availble and ride it out. transport the old number to the new carrier and no harm is done except that you are paying for two cell plans! if your at the very last month all and see what the prorate would be if you have been a customer in good standing they usually will not charge you the whole fee for discontinuing

No Cell Phones While Driving
cell phone number

There were a number of posters by school children about not driving while talking on one’s cell phone.

Hi. I’d like to give my cell number to someone I talk to online but I don’t want them to know where I live or anything until I know more about them. I have a tmobile cell phone. I was wondering if I gave them my cell number would they be able to figure out like where I live or any of my information?

Answer by sarge
The governmet & police can track it but i dont know about a regular civilian.

Answer by bttrflygirly0119
Yes…. they can… First of all, the three digit area code gives a general area of where you live.

If they type the whole number into reverse look up on www.whitepages.com, it will come up that it is a cell phone, carried by T-mobile, in whatever city you live in.

As far as exact address… NO, that is not trackable with a cell phone number.

Be careful.

i agree with ALL answers above

just be careful and use good common sense, the cell is less likely to be tracked than a landline, but it can be done, to see what a ‘normal’ person can see, go here and enter a cell number http://www.searchbug.com/tools/landline-or-cellphone.aspx It shows what one other person said sites like this can show, but if they have the knowledge to track a cell number, it can be done. I give my cell out sometimes (very rare) but i use caution in doing so.
