What is a cell phone microSD memory card adapter?

I bought a 1 GB memory card for my cell phone. In the package, there are these 2 adapters; they look like the memory chip itself, but they’re bigger. One of the adapters is bigger than the other. What do these adapters do?

What type of files of music and photos and videos can you put onto a cell phone?
For music, can I play mp3?

They are adapters so that you can read your micoSD card with either a miniSD reader, (the smaller one) or a stand SD card reader (the larger one). If you insert your card into one of the adapters, you can then insert the entire assembly into one of the aforementioned readers, and view what you have saved on the card.

If the chip is not big enough to fit into what ever else you want to use it in than you put it in the right adapter to make it fit. Example, most digital cameras will use the big one, so you will take the smallest one and insert it into the biggest one. I don’t know any things that uses the medium sized ones but you also insert the chip into that to if you find something that takes that size. I hope this answerer’s your question, I tried to explain it the best way I can. You can also order jump drives for them at tigerdirect.com. You insert the card into the side of the jump drive and plug it into your computer.

We have the same reaction when I bought it. The smaller adapter is for others and the slightly bigger is for downloading pictures videos and music.
