Is there a mobile phone that can use my home wireless internet connection to browse the internet?

Basically is there a mobile phone like an iphone, but doesnt use wireless broadband to connect to the internet?

The small answer is Yes.

The conundrum is that most service providers seem to only sell persons phones with a provision that you must buy internet service for the duration of the contract.

If you go here:

and click the Advanced Filter button, there is a WiFi feature choice. Check this, and you can see the offerings with WiFi across service providers.

Hi, this is rather urgent. I am doing a project that touches on the cellular network, and I know that radio waves transmitted from a mobile phone in the covered area of a cell site are sent to that cell site before life sent over cell sites until it reaches the cellsite where the receiving mobile phone is at.

But, how does this apply to cross-continent communication when there is a vast expanse of sea preventing the background up of any cell sites in between to aid the transfer of radio waves?

Are Satellites used to transfer the data in this case? What exactly happens? Please help! =(

Optical fiber is largely use now, to connect master cell sites (which have a number of slave sites) to the phone network. They all don’t network to each additional really. They might only if a call is beween mobile units under the control of a master site. Otherwise they go over the phone network to additional master sites, additional providers, or to non-mobile phones or communication endpoints.

Telephone and data communucations across oceans is largely done with underwater fibre.
