Cell phone skins vs. hardcovers.?

I have a Samsung sch-u740(black) and after a month it already has unsightly scratches all over it. So what’s better to get, skins or hardcovers. If you may maybe give me some personal experience answers and maybe a place to get such harvest, that would be fantastic!

Hard covers will protect it from scrathes and water and if it falls will protect it more. skins will help it only against scratches if you keep it in your purse or pocket.

If you mean the outer housing of the cell phone, they are usually made of plastic, injection molded.
