What heppens to old cell phones when people upgrade?

Do they recycle, destroy or sell the olds phones?

i think recycle or resale them to others for a cheaper price .. others who can’t afford a new phone thats real exspensive

you get to keep the phone when you upgrade. like lets say im with cingular wireless for 20 months out of my 2yr (24month) contract, they will offer me an upgrade. i get to keep my old phone and use the new one. because you have already purchased that phone out right, it’s yours. you can then sell it yourself but they dont take it back, the only time they take it back is if you cancel with in the first 30 days, or whatever the buyers remorse period is for that company. you can also just keep it in case your new phone breaks or something. hope this helps.

If you don’t want to keep it they can be donated to non-profit organizations for domestic violance. They can give the phone to victims so they will always have access to calling 911. An old cell phone that is no longer active still has the capability to call 911 in an emergency.

electronics usually has some copper, tin, gold, tantalum, iron, lead, aluminum, silicon, often lithium, sometimes rare earth elements like niobium or neodymium; occasionally americium, and lots of other stuff in trace amounts.

extraction methods may combine several separation techniques in sequence, including
crushing, shredding, shaking, sifting, electrically charging, magnetism, burning, dissolving, melting, centrifuge, and electrolysis.

many metal oxide ceramics can be reduced by bubbling hydrogen through molten slag and siphoning off the desired fraction. many such oxides have quite different solubility in various liquids such as water or strong acids. the resulting salts may be purified this way before reduction.

many metals melt at quite different temperatures.

We use cell phones on a daily basis but not while driving. We had twin 17 year old girls killed by a cell phone user in 2002. Cell phone use and texting has only gotten worse since then. They cost lives every day. We have heard all the arguments so save your time. People do have other distractions but you will notice cell phone use is the absolute most common. Everybody sees it and frowns upon it but they do it anyway. If these videos save one life then it was all worth it.
