do unlocked phones work with prepaid card?

I have verizonwireless prepaid card service and I want to get a new
phone, but they don’t have many phones to choose from. If i get an unlocked
phone, would it work with my prepaid phone service?

So i guess my mom said for my birthday she will get me a prepaid Verizon Wirreless cell phone. She didnt say a certain yes but she said we will see. Yes, Verizon offers a pre-paid plot — but if your Mom wants the one where you “pay as you go” and you just add as much money as you want for your minutes — make sure she clarifies that to them, because they have additional plans that they refer to as “pre-paid” plans, but they’re a small different from the “pay as you go” type of plot. You can get a decent phone — w/ a camera — and you will be able to text — it’s not the fanciest phone, but it’s a perfectly excellent phone.

Here’s a link: It shows the different “pay as you go” plans. The 99 cent one is excellent — otherwise, a lot of your money just gets eaten up in fees.
