Now in 2010, will my Verizon cell phone be able to text people in the U.S from Japan?

I’ve read that Verizon isn’t available in Japan, but all the articles i’ve read are from 3 years ago.
All of my contacts are Verizon as well.

You can basically text everywhere now around the world. It would be just expensive text if texting abroad is not included in your plan.

You need a global-capable phone for it to work in Japan- most of the global-capable phones are smartphones like Blackberrys and Windows Mobile phones
