Where can I buy an iphone, 3G phone or a good cell phone which is unlocked?

I know of websites, but i would like to buy it from a store instead off the internet. I’m looking for a good 3G cell phone or just a good cell phone which is unlocked and that I don’t have to go through any contracts such as Verizon and AT&T.

like the F480, iphone or the sony W902

You can just buy any at the store and jailbreak an iphone and there you go. Unlocked iPhone with like 234598345298 new features. Jailbreaking is so easy too and free.

well the iphone 3g is from AT&T so u need a plan but like cell phones that are prepaid do not support 3G

Well, you can go into your local RadioShack, AT&T Wireless store, Verizon Wireless store, etc… and buy a phone, no commitment, no questions asked. It’s like going to the store to pick out a pack of gum, you pick it, you get it (in this case ask for it), pay for it and leave. But in this case, you ask them to unlock it. AT&T unlocks their phones for free, in an effort to keep there #1 Customer Satisfaction record. But if you get a Verizon Wireless phone, and ask them to unlock it, they will either refuse or ask you to pay a fee. BUT, what kind of carrier will you be using? a Carrier which runs on the Nation and World Wide network (GSM, which is used by AT&T)…which means there is something called a SIM card that you put in the back. or, the Verizon Wireless, USA technology called (CDMA), CDMA is less sophisticated and does not have as much range as a GSM tower does. I just purchased an iPhone 3G at the at&t wireless store online (with a contract). I selected the plan already so when it comes in it should be ready to go after I connect it to iTunes. Anyway, it hasn’t arrived yet, so I was wondering if there was some way to figure out what my new number was. Also, when it does arrive, will it tell me what my cell phone number is (if so, than where?)

1) i’m sure you can call at&t, and they would help you with this.

2) when you get it, your phone number is displayed at the top of the contacts list.

It’s likely it may take some time. It will definately arrive with your phone, the number will be on the SIM card pack.

If you didn’t already have a contract with AT&T then they assign you a new number. If you did, then it will be your same number, unless you opted for a new line. If the phone number is not anywhere on your paperwork for your order, call into customer service and ask. Logically though, they should have assigned it to you when you signed up online, because you would have to choose the correct area code, etc.

Also, the SIM will come pre installed on the phone, so it won’t show any info, not that the SIM is in any way associated with the number (as someone else mentioned) it’s attached to your plan, so your number could easily be changed, and not change your SIM.

Logically, when the phone comes in, you should be able to turn it on, and call someone and quickly know your number, because it will show up on their screen.
