Does unlocking an Iphone 3g give you free cell phone service?
I found an Iphone 3G the other day, went home, jailbroke it and unlocked it. When I unlocked it, it started saying “no service” and when I click T-Mobile, it says “Cellular service restricted”. This poses the obvious question, does unlocking an Iphone 3G give you free cell phone service? If not, how do I get free services, or can i?
Answer by ZOMG LAWL
No free services. Unlocking a phone simply means you can use it with compatible carriers other than the one on which it is offered. So, unlocking an iPhone means you can use it on att or t-mobile. You still need a sim card and a plot to get minutes.

no.
Unlocking your iphone will let you use the phone on any GSM carrier!

Unlocking does not allow you to steal cell phone service. Yes, that’s what you’re trying to do. It’s illegal and not possible by unlocking.

You FOUND a Iphone 3G, that means someone lost their phone. They WILL report it lost or stolen and it will be permanently barred so the best thing you can do is phone a digit on the phone and try to find the title-holder.
Unlocking does not and never will give you free service.

No it means you can place different sim cards in the phone and use other carriers

Cell phone don’t run from satellites, there are huge cell phone towers with antennae. Satellite phones everywhere too unusable for customers to want them so they died.
