Is it excellent to buy a refurbished cell phone online? In AT&T web site, the prepaid handsets page, there are many refurbished cell phones. Is it excellent to buy it online? Or it is better to buy the refurbished one in store? Thanks!

Answer by Dragonskeeper

i am a store title-holder. refurbished means that is has been remanufactured to company spec. most refurbs do dont last as long, and do not work as well as the new versions. the quantity you save will be spent at a later date. i recommend new each time. excellent luck

NEITHER! Refurbished cell phones are a waste of money. My brother bought his refurbished palm pilot online and it only lasted him 3 months. So then he had to use a crappy Samsung phone. The more expensive you pay for a phone, the longer it will last you. You don’t want to have to end up doubling what you paid later on, do you? Hope everything works out! :-)

What do teens do?

Over lunch now, Guy Kawasaki arranged a panel of 14-18 year olds to take up that question for an audience of investors.

All six panelists have iPods and cell phones (50% Motorola, 83% Cingular) and are active computer users (50% Mac).

None of them buys ring tones or cell phone applications. None of them plays mobile videos or listens to music from their cell phone. They primarily use their phones and computers to communicate.

With the computer, multitasking is the norm… with 13 open IM windows + music, email, browser and homework.

Making a bet and TV were mildly fascinating to 1 panelist.

Two panelists were MySpace users. The others expressed a certain backlash and chose resistance to the addiction of MySpace. One 14 year ancient used to be an active MySpace user but stopped after the police came to her school to warn the students about various dangers lurking there.

One of the teens made K last year playing online poker… and over 0K this year. He considers it his job, and the 0/hr that he makes beats any other employment available to him now. He listens to music and multitasks while "working".

I don’t like my cell phone and verizon is way overpriced. I want to buy a cell phone online and then hook it up to my plot in house of my ancient phone. I am hooked up to my moms plot and she pays 10$ for my phone a month. Can I still switch the phone in the plot without having any costs or renewing my contract etc?

Answer by Roman
Yes you can. It won’t renew your contract. But you do run the risk of export a phone that has been reported lost or stolen. If that’s the case you won’t be able to activate the phone on your plot no matter what. So find out for sure before you by the phone. Otherwise you’ll end up with an expensive paper weight.
