What Happens to an old cell phone after the number is transferred to a new cell phone?

I’m purchasing a new cell phone and I’m plotting on transferring my ancient digit to the new phone. Though, a friend of mine is attracted in export the ancient phone from me and before I do any of this I’d like to know what will happen to the ancient phone’s digit if I transfer it to my new phone. Will he have to transfer his digit to that phone, or will it keep the digit it already has in any case of me transferring it to the new phone?

When the digit is transferred to your new phone, your ancient phone is deactivated. He can transfer his digit to it or he can choose to get a new digit.

If it’s a GSM phone (most carriers other than Verizon or Sprint), the digit is in the sim card.

What do you reckon? Answer below!

I’ve seen people export cell phones on ebay and other stores outside of the wireless service’s store. But i wonder, how does it work once you get it. Can you buy a phone on ebay and take it to your local wireless provider’s store, and they’ll activate it with your ancient cell digit? Can they just transfer over your ancient plot you want to keep onto your new phone?
Or is the only way i can get a new phone (with Verizon Wireless service) is through their retail store or on their site?

Thanks.

You can buy a phone from eBay, Amazon, or whatever.
As long as you provide your own equipment for activation there are NO activation fees or any other kind of fee.
Just make sure the phone is not on a lost or stolen list by calling Verizon and confirming with them it’s not.

The ESN or MEID digit is what you want. Question the seller for it.
It can be activated with your ancient digit. It can be on your ancient plot too! It won’t even extend your contract.

The above is IF AND ONLY IF you provide your own equipment, not export directly from Verizon.
