Check out T-Mobile’s Even More Plus plans.

The main difference is that you get a phone with the contract plot. With the Even More Plus, you can buy a phone from T-Mobile (at full retail) or bring any unlocked GSM device.

Doubtless Tracphone: as low as .04 a min if you buy a ton of minutes at once, no data, cheap phones. Uses T-mobile and/or AT&T as the network.
Virgin has the cheapest everything plot: $ 25 for 300 minutes plus unlimited text and data, cheapest phone is $ 70. Their paylo phones are $ 9, cheapest plot is $ 20 a month.
Others:
Boost is $ 50ish with $ 59.99 cheapest phone.
Cricket is is $ 35 for unlimited phone $ 45 for unlimited everything, some free phones.
All three use Sprint as their network.
Others:
MetroPCS $ 40, some free phones.
T-mobile: actual pay as you go .10 a min, along with a $ 30 unlimitedish plot

One of the three confidential ambulance companies that South King Fire & Rescue contracts with. Mostly they use AMR, and supposedly they use Rual Metro but I rarely see any RM vans.
When a BLS call goes out, AMR automatically gets a page (you know, those things people had before cell phones were standard) with the take up of the incident. They start rolling their van through traffic (no illumination/sirens, AKA code red) as the fire department is responding (who may be responding yellow (no illumination/sirens) or red, depending on the call). If it is determined that the patient needs treatment at a hospital, the responding fire units will question for an ambulance from dispatch. Usually the ambulance is within a few blocks since they received the page earlier. The patient is then packaged and then taken to either the nearest hospital or the hospital of their choice. It isn’t uncommon for fire to clear the vista before the ambulance leaves.
In the case of an ALS call, a paramedic unit will be dispatched to the vista. If it is unclear from the caller whether or not it is an ALS response, a medic unit might not be dispatched since they can go quickly through traffic (this isn’t the case in rural areas of King County, everywhere it can take an excess of 5 minutes to respond code red). Patients that require hospitalization will be transported by the medic unit. The medic unit is staffed with paramedics who can administer a higher level of care while enroute to the hospital.
Outside the city of Seattle, confidential ambulance companies are not allowed to use the illumination and sirens installed on a vehicle. Though they are occasionally questioned to do so by on vista units. If a paitient’s condition deteriorates enroute, protocol is for the ambulance to radio into their dispatch and say them, pull over to the side of the road, and wait for an aid or medic unit to arrive and have them transport.
Since the Seattle Fire department only contracts with AMR, they don’t have the option of trying two or more companies to find the closest unit. This is one of the reasons why AMR goes code in Seattle (even though they’re only doing a transport–they’re never first on vista). Another reason is response times.
Contracting outtransports benefits everyone since 1) the fire department’s units can go back in service sooner since they’re not busy pouring to and from the hospital and 2) it’s cheaper. Some departments, such as Renton Fire, do their own transports to Valley and Overlake.
The transporting ambulance will usually call the hospital prior to arrival and describe the condition of the paitient. This is fantastic if you missed the dispatch of the call and still want to know what happened. This call is sometimes made on a cell phone, making it nearly impossible to listen to, but is often made on HEAR which makes it possible (and officially authorized) to listen to.
Another confidential ambulance company, Airlift Northwest that only does ALS air transports (usually in helicopters around the Puget Signal, but they also have a couple of flat wing aircraft) doesn’t use HEAR, rather they use a different, non-national channel referred to as MEDCOM. It’s also an fascinating one to listen to.

The shot was a bit blurry, I was playing with the only camera around–a Mini DV camera.
The ambulance pictured responded to a call down the street. Initially dispatch came back informing the unit on vista that they’d be receiving AMR coming from quarters in Federal Way with a five minute delay due to a crew change. I’m not sure everywhere AMR’s quarters are. They didn’t like this, so they questioned for something closer. Dispatch came back about a minute later informing them there was a Tri-Med at 320th & I-5. He requested them code. It took them about 2 minutes to do a drive that takes me 10. And, like always, the siren gets cut a few blocks out and the illumination were cut just before I snapped this.
AM looking for price and excellent quality.

Verizon has prepaid plans and phones available. I would suggest getting the original Env or Venus. Their honestly cheap and excellent quality.
