Q&A: Can the Cell Phone company trace where your phone is if somebody calls it ?

I know they can when the phone is turned on….

But what about if the Battery is Dead or the Phone is turned off?

Like say my phone is turned off and dead somewhere and I call it, during that call can the cell phone company trace the call to everywhere my cell phone might be?

With a police order, they can tell you which cell tower the phone is reading off of. But the phone would have to be turned on.
GPS locating of the phone is possible IF you have a data plot and a software program to do so. But even then, the phone would have to be on.
Yeah, the stuff in the movies is pretty amusingly impossible.
Face it: You lost your phone. Call your carrier and tell them it’s lost before people find it and start calling Malaysia and you get a $ 600 phone bill.

There are no truly free sites as cell phone records are NOT public records. To get the information requires that records searches be performed by a legitimate agency and they DO charge for this. You will find all kinds of sites that claim to be “free” but all you will get for free is the city and state. I have tried my personal cell phone digit in many of these sites and they do not give right info even at that. They usually come back and tell me that it is a landline digit, which I know it is not. If you want to pay to get the information then Google reverse cell phone lookup and you will find many sources
