Purchasing a second-hand cell phone - compatibility?

I’ve always bought cell phones retail, but my 13 yr. ancient daughter is bugging me to buy her a like cell phone. I’d like to buy her one on Craig’s List or via online auction, but I’m concerned about what I don’t know that I should know to do this intelligently. For example, Verizon seems to have the best cell coverage in our area (Boston), and I’m concerned about getting her a phone that is Verizon compatible.
Also, she is already “under contract” to Verizon, based on a cell phone that she lost, so I’d want to assign that digit to the new phone – any suggestions?

I p-urchased an ancient cell phone from my company and called verizon and they place my digit on it. If you buy one from an auction or a used cell phone in general, make sure that it does not have a past cell phone bill, otherwise you will not be able to activate it in anticipation of that bill is paid. Excellent Luck

If you are export a secondary cell phone beacuse your other cell phone bill is over the roof, then no. If you are by one for buissnes and one for personal talking, then yes.

If you know that nothing is incorrect with the phone, then yes. Do not buy it unless you inspect it first!!! Make sure all the keys work, the prongs on the back are still shiny, and it doesn’t have any obvious hurt!!
