Is there a cell phone plan that WON'T rip us off?? Can I stop my kids' text messages & downloads??

We have Sprint and our kids are racking up an extra $ 200 a month for text messages, downloads, internet tie charges, etc. They don’t know all the charges and there’s stuff I can’t even get rid of, like subscriptions that come with a “free” ringtone. Is there an honest cell company that will let me deny access to these things on my kids’ phones? Failing that, are Pay-as-you-go plans a rip off too??

try www.consumercellular.com. They have free texting and their plans are really excellent!

I have Verizon and after my nephew abused his text messaging (racking up $ 100), I called them and told them to place a block on txt messaging on all the shape, and it worked. You can even question them to block messaging and downloads on specific shape on your plot. I used to despise Verizon, but in the past few being their service has dramatically improved and the technology and reception are the best around.

Ok you can get them a boost mobile phone and when you set it up you can tell the company to not allow texting and internet usage. It also has walkie talkie for a dollar a day. It is prepaid so you can tell your kids that if the want to keep their phone running they need to be sparing with their talk time. Pay as you go is not a rip off. It is an easyt way to teach your kids responsibility.

James Lee Witt supports the FCC’s plot
cell phone plans for kids

Former FEMA director kicked off the event with explanation explaining why he supports the FCC’s plot for building an interoperable public safety broadband network.

"We have all of this technology available now," Witt said. "[It] can be place together in a public-confidential partnership that can start solving the conundrum sooner rather than later. When you have kids who have cell phones with [better] capabilities than a first responder’s, that’s unacceptable."
