What's the Shelf-Life of modern cell phones. How it effects our environment.?

I am doing a paper on the speed with which cell phones are being discarded as old or obsolete. Millions of tons of old phones & accesorries are sold for as low as $ 10, $ 50 or $ 200 for a 1000lb(pound) soon after new phone hit the market. Where is it dumped? Who is buying it & for what? when even third-world(poor) countries are using latest phones.

My contract with US Cellular is up later this month and I’m looking for a phone that works with my G5. I’m looking for one that can take photos as well. I looked at a few reviews of the ROKR but it doesn’t look like anyone is liking that one. Please help me out.

I’ve had four bluetooth phones since I got my Mac and they’ve all worked fine. Three of them have been Motorollas and the most recent is a Siemens SP65.

I think the Sony Ericsson w800i and K750 are some of the best mobile phones out there right now. They take memory sticks for MP3 playback and for storing photos and video. The camera is probably one of the best cameraphones on the market right now — 2 Megapixel + autofocus.

You can buy the W800i online from Sony and it works well with T-Mobile’s service. You can also use this handset with Cingular, but your mileage may vary if Cingular does not use the 1900Mhz frequency in your area.

Cingular do sell and support the quadband Z520a and the W600, though the w600 is not supported “out of the box” with iSync right now — though there are workaround.

Orlando International Airport may be the first major airport in the country with its own 4G wireless-communications network. Now it has to wait and see if many passengers buy the latest-generation smart phones that can take maximum advantage of it.
