Question about the free cell phones the government issues out?
Does anyone know what the carriers are or whatever, or like what the cell phones look like?
Answer by choteau
The government does not issue free cell phones. I do know of a digit of confidential organizations who give cell phones and minutes to on-duty soldiers, sailors, and airmen as well as a few who do the same for veterans.

They are pretty limited at the moment and details are sketchy. I do expect this to be a excellent program.

Consider, just how confidential do you reckon a govt. cell would be? There are always strings attached to anything the federal government gives ya! I’m sure that there will be many sheep to take them.

They are from tracfone, minutes are added each month.
If you get them for free, does it really matter what they look like? They are a basic phone which is all you need.

Type in a four digit password to lock your phone. Unless they’re watching. Is anyone watching? Let me go do this in a locked and unlit room. Unless there are cameras… Are there cameras? Possibly I should turn off the cell phone signal first. But the government can still tap our calls. Someone’s always listening…and watching.
Of course, I’m only kidding, but I reckon there’s a fine line between security events and paranoia, and this is only a few steps away from paranoia. I’m doubtless biased just because it’s inconvenient to type four facts each time you want to unlock your phone. And in the first three days of owning this phone, that’s very often.
incoming calls?
Jason, why would they be for anything else on the taxpayer’s dime?
Jeffrey e : it is just one example of wastefulness, you have given another, many many more could be given and yet we still trust the government to make excellent decisions with our tax dollars. Do you honestly believe in BIGGER GOVERNMENT?

I don’t know.

yes, that makes sense to me

yeah…isn’t that weird they get this free? What the heck. There is ALWAYS someone with a phone to borrow..you don’t need to have the government pay for one for you. I would make exceptions for those that have children who are handicapped or has seizures etc…those ARE emergencies…but yes…911 should be the only thing OUT and possibly the phone of a spouse or parent that needs to be contacted!

Fake premise = You fail
Nobody said they were for “emergencies” only.
