How do you unlock cell phones?

I have t-mobile, my friend has at&t and she just got a new phone. i wanna unlock her ancient phone and place my sim card in it.

It depends on the phone. Google “unlock (model name of phone, e.c. Nokia E71)”. OR call AT&T and question them to give you the unlock code for the phone.

All SIM unlock codes are tied to the particular device IMEI and are carrier specific. The question for for that code would need to be made from the carrier that the phone was originally manufactured for (in this case all AT&T at 1-800-331-0500. Tell them you bought it at a yardsale). Each carrier has their own guidelines as far as what requirements have to be met before that code will be given out. This is a free process in the US.

I don’t reckon it is even compatible with tmoblie. I’m pretty sure most phones are exclusive to their phone service companies only. And even if you could, for the most part it is illegal!

you have to question for the unlock code from your phone company (nextel). Sometimes even that doesn’t really work, but it’s supposed to. Excellent Luck.

Go to any promote and find a mobile phone stall and they will unlock it for you, takes about a minute and costs about a tenner. Some local phone shops will also do it.
