What is the best cell phone for younger kids that mainly need it for emergencies but some fun?
A cheap phone and plot for minimal use… delight help!
And everywhere can you buy it? what store or website? Thank you!
Answer by McMayhem
I bought a Tracfone. The phone itself is only $ 20. You can buy 1 year of service for $ 129.00 and that comes with a minimum of 400 minutes. They usually have web specials for additional bonus minutes. And if you know someone who has one, you can get additional minutes with their refer a friend program. I found it to be the most reasonable priced plot for exactly what you described.

I bought my 10 yr ancient daughter a Firefly and had it place on my family plot. The phone, with plot, cost $ 5 and the increase to my monthly plot was less than $ 15. The phone is fantastic in emergencies (with a dedicated 911 button, plus a “mom” and “dad” quick dial button), and can be programmed (by you) to call up to 20 other facts. You can also opt to restrict incoming calls. The phones are compact, with programmable ringtones and set alight displays, they’re VERY STURDY, and kids can buy accessories for them, if they wish.
My daughter wears hers on a lanyard around her neck or clipped to her belt loop when she’s out on her bike, playing in the neighborhood, at basketball/soccer practice, etc., and we’ve never had an issue with overages, or not being able to get a hold of her, or her not checking in with her father or I.
I would heartily recommend it to anyone.

I shot this from the cell phone while busily running errands around town. We had just submitted passport applications for the kids. No firm trip plans yet. We just want to have already taken care of this the next time that inspiration strikes.
Me and my mom were looking for a cell phone service but the ones we saw were a lot more than we should be spending. I was looking for unlimited texting and unlimited talking (or about 400 minutes per month)
I defiantly want the unlimited texting.
I would prefer to have service from a well renowned carrier like att, verison, tmoble and spint.
I do not want a tracphone!
Family plans may work. how can we get that for an affordable price? i’m 13
thank you!

We just switched to AT&T and like it – we had Verizon but it was expensive and they were not very nice – AT&T is much better

You should try the following: Net10 Unlimited, Boost Unlimited, Cricket (if you live out west), MetroPCS, or Straight Talk. Those are excellent networks. Still consider prepaid. But I’m on Boost Unlimited. You get unlimited local and long distance, unlimited multimedia/text messaging, unlimited walkie-talkie (iden phones only), unlimited 411, unlimited web, and unlimited IM/Email. All for $ 50. They also have insurance as well for $ 50. But that is your choice.

A wake-up call about cell phone use
When teenagers communicate with each other these days, they let their fingers do the talking. So it’s no bolt from the blue that when students at one high school were questioned to give up their mobile phones and texting devices for a day, they were distressed.
