Can you call around the world with your cell phone if it is a world phone quad band?

Can you call around the world with your cell phone if it is a world phone quad band?

I am roving to brazil and want to be able to use my phone in brazil to call family’s cell phones when I get there. Is it possible to just call the cell number of the family member in brazil with my quad brand world phone without having to use a calling card or anything like that? If so does it cost anything extra to be on that roaming? Plus can i still receive calls from my family in the US?

Answer by ddominic
Of course. If your cell phone is quad band then it is likely a GSM cell phone that uses a sim card and is capable of calling anywhere in the world while you are roving. But roving and making calls can be expensive. You will be charged for long distance calls per small as well as roaming fees since you outside your country and using your cell phone.

You will be able to receive calls from your family in the United States but you will be charged for long distance and roaming fees. One business that you need to be aware of. Before you travel to brazil make sure you contact your cell phone company and let them know to activate international calling since you will be roving outside your home area.

A quad band phone will work for any network in any country, but can you make call on it? It depend on your service provider, not exactly your phone alone. To use your phone abroad with your current service provider, you will need to activate INTERNATIONAL Roaming for your simcard.Yes it will cost you extra to receive & making phone call, text and accessing internet. Its about $ 2/min to receive call and 50c to send text.
Can i still receive calls? Thats the international roaming is for.You can receive anything calls, text, even email if you have BB.But with high cost.
To be exact, just surf to your network provider’s website and look for international service files there.

A couple of years ago I was talking to some public who taught English in Japan. They said that when they came back, they bought the simplest phone available in the States, since they knew what they had in Japan would not be available at all.

I’m not really sure what sort of technology Japanese phones had over the US (except for music and text capabilities), etc. I tried to do some research to compare US cell phone technology to additional countries, but I couldn’t find much.

Still not even close. Japan phones are still at least 10 years ahead of US phones and that’s the low end Japan phones. Japan phones service not only has texting but it has emailing functions without a service plot. Japan has been banking on their phones for years now and they already are able to use their phones and swipe it like a credit card so they can place their wallets at home. There are additional functions that they have that are unheard of in the US and they’re already working on using their phones as projectors.

The Philippines is the text-messaging capital of the world. About 45 million Filipinos own cell phones and send more than 1 billion text messages a day. But there is more to text messaging than personal communications. With the help of USAID, Filipinos are using their cell phones to bank. These services, calculated by the USAID-support MABS program, allow clients to deposit and withdraw from their bank accounts, receive and pay loans, receive and send remittances and even handle payroll services via their cell phones. The MABS program linked with Globe Telecom to utilize the GCash platform to facilitate the MABS-calculated mobile phone banking services. G-Cash essentially turns a cell phone into an electronic wallet that public can use to send and receive payments via text reduction clients time and money.
