Q&A: Can I get a different Android phone through Asurion?

I have T-mobile with their insurance, which is through Asurion.

Can I claim that I have a newer model phone, such as the Mytouch 4G, and get Asurion to send me that phone instead of my current Android phone?

Most likely no, since they will probably want you to turn in your old phone in exchange for the new one if its broken.

If its LOST, then Asurion probably can ask T-Mobile what phone you had, because T-Mobile will most likely know for sure.

It would be the same as you trying to say you have a 2011 sports car insured when in reality it was a beat up Ford Pinto. The VIN number would rat you out. Same with the IMEI number, it tells the phone company and insurance company what was insured, where and when it was made and the model it happens to be. So no matter what you “SAY” it is, they will know the truth before you finish the story, sitting on the screen in front of them.

So don’t even try, unless you want to look stupid. I’m pretty sure you are not the first person to think of that scam, and you won’t be the last.

And if there was any question as to what you actually had, Asurion would contact T-Mobile and ask for the IMEI of the last phone that was activated on your account at the time of the loss.

A friend’s HTC Tattoo Android Phone. Tattoo is a much affordable model amongst the available Android sets. Despite the resistive screen, it is probably the most sold Android device here in India.

You can’t use Excel on Android phones because there’s no version of Office for Android.

If you have a Google account (which you will with an Android device), you can import your spreadsheet to Google Docs, then bring it up on the phone and edit it that way.

You can also purchase the full version of Documents to Go (about $ 15), which allows editing of any Office file on Android.

QuickOffice will do it for free or you can buy Documents to Go for $ 15 US. There is no actual Office programs for smartphones that are not Windows (Microsoft) mobile phones.
