Is it safe to give out ESN numbers: from your old cell phones to potential CraigsList buyers who ask for it?

I’m selling 2 ancient/deactivated Verizon cell phones and a the makings buyer wants to verify he can activate them (he emailed me for the ESNs).
ALSO: Can someone use my ancient ESNs with their phones (can they burn the numbers into their phones) rendering my phones unusable (“bricks”)?

yes you need to give him the esn so he can call and verfiy with VZN that the phone is able to be acitrvated and isnt black listed or has an out permanent account.

No….no body can burn your esn.

The ESN is hardwired to the motherboard of the phone.
