because am goin there in 3 days n am gna stay for a long time so am guessing i gta get a sim n stuff just wonderin how many digits is it n what does it start with and if a person from another country wants to dial it what would they dial?

These are the common area codes for cell phones I see.

718
917
646
347

Usually, it is a 10-digit number, the 1 in front of the area code not built-in(area code in parentheses)
(XXX)-XXX-XXXX

if a person wants to dial globally to the US, they have to get a plot that supports international calls, then from there, call in this format:

(country code of the caller is on)-(destination country code-US is 011)-(area code)-(7 digit phone number)

At least that’s what I recall

212, 315, 347, 516, 518, 585, 607, 631, 646, 716, 718, 845, 914, 917
then the 7 digit phone number.

00 + 1 + Area Code+ Tel #
