Current and former Circuit City employees, please answer?

Current and former Circuit City employees, please answer?

Okay, so I applied at a Circuit City for Merchandising, a while back. They need somebody in Tech Sales, instead. I worked in Tech Sales for Office Depot, for over 2 years…and got promoted to basically lead floor sales after a year of life there.

I had my first interview with a fixed superintendent at Circuit City. Then I was called back for my second interview, which was with the operations administrator first and then after a small interview, he passed me over to what seemed to be the sales administrator for the Tech area. Also a positively small interview. I honestly was probably the only employee they have had bring a job-specific cover letter, resume, references and temp work listed in separate order. She loved it that I had gotten promoted after just a year at Office Depot in the Tech deparmtent and have a lot of knowledge of the harvest. She gave me drug testing paperwork at the end of that second interview. I completed the test days gone by, and I know persons results can take 2-3 days at least to come back (I’m not worried about it, of course…I don’t do drugs.)

I went back to the store days gone by to drop off some papers that the nurse at the drug testing facility insisted were not papers she should keep. But she confirmed something along the lines of, “My end is done, but you may have to fax persons to whoever, or whatever needs to be done with them.” The papers were signed off by her…but the text on them indicated that she should have kept them, from what I understood from it. But, she typed info into a computer and did it that way, I presume…and they will get the results faxed/e-mailed to them. I dropped the paperwork off at the store with a administrator, just to make sure that they weren’t needed…and I know they may maybe fax them to whoever if they were needed, since they were signed off on. When I dropped the extra drug testing papers off with the administrator at the store (also the same administrator I had my first interview with)…she misunderstood me at first and I guess she thought that my drug testing results had come in. So her first response was, “We’ll get you started on your paperwork.”

I’ve gone through my second interview, and had my drug testing done (which usually isn’t done until public are told that they are really hired). My third interview is apparently going to be with the general administrator, which I have a feeling may just be a general “chit-chat” interview to meet him and just talk a small bit more about my experience. Yet my drug test has already been completed after the second interview. This seems a small backwards from the processes I have gone through. Am I ‘hired’ or not?

I would be working in what is called CFA1 and CFA2, from what I understood the sales administrator to say. Apparently CFA1 and CFA2 are different departments. The first life general Tech stuff of all types, and the second life TVs and cell phones or something like that. I’ll apparently start off in the first, and also cross-train in the latter.

I know that I’ll be starting off as part-time, and was quoted 10-30 hours per week. How simple is it to slide into a Full-Time position? Would I have to be promoted to a superintendent before apt full time, and do they have a minimum amount of time before I can be considered for it?

I also do not see a specific dress code there. I saw two different loss prevention public. One wore a gray shirt and black pants, and one wore a red shirt and khaki pants. Some sales associates wear red, and some seem to wear something else. Is there a set dress code, and what would mine be for a Tech sales associate?

If anyone can clue me in on this specific stuff with Circuit City, I’d greatly be grateful for it. If you don’t know what I’m talking about and have never worked for Circuit City, please do not give me a ‘guess’ answer. I can do that for myself. :-) Thanks.

Not sure on the whole interview hiring process, I had one group interview and was hired on the spot, Part-Time, didn’t even have a drug test, which I thought was a small weird. They must randomly select new hires to take drug test. After I finished all my paper work it took them 2 weeks to give me a call to tell me when I was starting.

I’m not sure about how long it would take to slide into a Full-Time position. They do schedule you according to how well you sell Firedog Services, Warranties, and additional extras. If you can’t sell them they may very well bump you down to 4-5 hours a week, on the contrary if you do very well at selling services and warranties you may maybe be working 30-40 hours per week.

Wear black or tan khaki’s and a nice pair of black shoes, most public I notice wear black, they will provide the red Circuit City shirt.

CFA1 is TV’s and home audio.

CFA2 is the rest of the store.

Hope this helped a small.

There is a person whom I’ve known for well over a year. This person was introduced to me by a family member and her parents are friends of the family. The person questioned me to help her with rehabbing a condominium she inherited as a gift, and I did so. She is currently unemployed yet has her own car, apartment and cell phone to “work with”, for lack of a better phrase. I bought her tools and gift cards at Home Depot, bought dinners for her and for myself on numerous occasions, even let her use my cell phone when she has her own! By the way, I should note that we are not romantically involved, and I recieved few items from her in restore for my generosity. I now realize I was life used by her, and I let this happen based on my need to feel “needed” – I blame for myself by not background boundries on our “relationship”. I want to now “let this person go” but I am unsure as to how to do it without life too cruel. Any thoughts? Female perspectives would be appreciated – thanks!

This is going to be tough since you didn’t set boundaries to start with. This may be a less honest-forward way of handling the situation but I would lie and tell her that you have spent a lot of money on her and her stuff and you just don’t have much money left. Just keep making excuses and she’ll get the point. Or, if you prefer to be honest forward, I would deal with her first with the conundrum “I am spending to much money on you for nothing in restore and I’m feeling used.” And tell her what you want to see happen. She may not even realize what she is doing.

She has been cruel to you by using you for your money and time. Tell her you can no longer help her financialy with her project but you would still like to remain friends.
