Can the police track down a cell phone location if the cell phone is closed ?
I have an Iphone.. and was wondering if the police can track down the cell phone if my cell phone is closed ? And how do you take the battery out of an iphone where the SIM card is ?
Answer by WRG
Yes they can.
You can’t remove the battery on an iPhone.
The SIM card is at the top of the phone. Here’s a “how to remove” instruction page.

Unless the phone is turned off yes they can.

Maybe you should just restore the iphone to its rightful owner instead of worrying about how to hide the deed from the police.
I’m just sayin’….

if the phone is turned off, then it can not be tracked.

The phone can be tracked if it is on. This is possible through the unique IMEI number that all GSM cell phones (including iPhone) have. If your iPhone is locked onto a particular cell phone provider, then the police will interrogate the user in whose name the phone is registered.
Of course, all this depends on whether it’s a case of “lost cell phone” or “stolen cell phone”. If the phone is lost and switched off then it’s hard to track it down. But once it’s turned on, the IMEI number can be tracked.
If the phone is stolen and switched off then it’s a whole different matter with legal or criminal consequences.
My own phone has two security programs: Mobile tracker and Spybubble. One helps keep track of a phone’s place while the additional lets me know of any calls or messages that were made through my phone.

I have an enV2 with Verizon
I’m 16
Recently, my parents told me they updated a place tracking system to my phone. I like to have my own privacy and getting away from from them for the most part because they can be abusive and refuse to let me live my own life. If I set my phone to E911 only on my phone, is it possible for them to in any way track my phone?
It’s because of them I’m already reduction up to go out the second I turn 18. They are obsessed with knowing everything about my life and I don’t know how much more I can take. I like having privacy. I like life able to place without them able to track me down whenever they please. It scares the hell out of me!
If you call destroying my room, pushing me, throwing stuff at me, and etc. then they must like me to pieces.
My dad is an alcoholic, abusive, pothead while my mom sits back and watches because shes too worried to say anything.

Place tracking system? Sounds expensive and I have never heard of it, maybe they are bluffing? You’re 16, why do you want to live on your own. Don’t forget who is paying for your cell phone bill to start with.

Based on the software used, a cellphone can be tracked anytime it’s turned on, no matter what you set it to. Sorry.
Besides, you’re too young to be “living your own life” at age 16. Sorry if this sounds a bit harsh, as it’s not meant that way. I feel terrible for you if your ‘rents are really abusive, and if they are so, you should seek help somewhere. (Not letting you stay out late or requiring you to perform a certain, reasonable way is not abuse. Question someone who’s *really* been physically or sexually abused what it’s like). You’re 16. In a few years, you’ll be able to do what you really want. Deal with it.

Every parent who reads this will interpret your description as follows:
“..they can be abusive and refuse to let me live my own life” = they refuse to let me continue to make foolish decisions that will negatively impact the rest of my life.
You want to live your own life? Go out and buy your own phone/plot. Until then, consider telling your parents how much you be grateful for how much they care about you.

If you exchange the background, they wont be able to see your place, but they will get an error on their phone, so they will know that you did something to disable it, so I wouldnt recommend doing that since that may maybe make things even worse…

Hey buddy, your parents are using Verizon family locator to track your mobile phone, you can turn if off, but your parents would know, as they can not view your place on maps or receive alerts any more.
