Are the wires on a cell phone car charger just positive and negative wires?

Im talking about the part that plugs into the cigarette lighter, not the cig lighter itself. are the wires on a car charger cable just positive and negative wires? If so, how can you tell which is pos and which is neg?

Yes, usually positive will be red and negative black. Sometimes they are both black, but the negative wire will have a white line in it.

Yes, usually its just the 2 wires, the center prong in the plug is the positive,, You may need to use a meter or test light if not sure, just connect the ground to the metal under the dash and check for power

You can tell the difference by using a VOM or test lamp to test the leads.

You know you’re not close to home anymore when your mobile phone carrier changes to some brand you’ve never even heard of.

I have an LG Chocolate (the newer model)
I’m leery because at the Verizon store, the car charger is $ 30—but I’m seeing it on eBay for $ 10 with shipping. I’ve never bought a charger online, so I’m looking for experiences, excellent or terrible, to help me choose whether to take the plunge.

i’ve bought them on ebay, but I make sure the one I’m buying is name brand and not generic.

I’ve bought many phones and chargers off eBay (mainly because of the cheapness of their prices!) and never had a conundrum with them.
Just make sure you read the auction details thoroughly so you know what you’re bidding for,and check the sellers feedback too.
Steer apparent of sellers with lots of terrible feedback.

Yes, it shouldn’t be a conundrum. Just make sure to write the seller via ebay and have them gurantee that the charger is in perfect working condition. This way IF there is a conundrum you can quickly send their response to the ebay dispute resolution department

Oh yes. Definately buy on Ebay. I buy camera charges, cell phone charges, accessories, everything… from Ebay. Public by them indiscriminate. Just make sure they have excellent feedback, and read the feedback. And make sure it’s new in package. Excellent luck!
