Is my cell phone charger using a lot of electricity?
My room mates have been getting at me for charging my cell phone all night when that’s the only time I ever charge it. They say that my cell phone charger uses just as much, maybe even more, than their portable room heater that they plug in. How can I find out if this is true or not?
If it helps, the input is 100-240 VAC; 50-60 Hz; 0.15A. The output is 5.0V_ _ _ 0.7 A.

Your room mates are escapees from the Villages that are looking for their Idiots. Cellphone chargers use approximately 2 cents for month of electricity. Roomer heaters use 15-20 amps, cell charger is .7, that’s Point 7. Notifiy their Villages to pick up their JackA$ $ es. LOL

Your charger takes very little electricity.
But, the less it’s plugged in the better for the enviroment lol
And, if you want to get back at your dumb roommates, I suggest wrapping the roomheater in a blanket when you turn it on.

Better chargers will not use any significant electricity when not charging. Cheap ones do and it may be worth attaching them to a power strip that you can easily shut off.
How do you tell? Put your hand on it. If it’s warm, then it’s wasting electricity.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen one of these! However there is a device that can split your cigarette lighter into 2 outlets, so that way you could plug in two different chargers at the same time. I believe they sell them at Walmart.
