Yep, spent the first 3/4 of my life where there were any no cell phones, or hardly anyone had them. Just got mine 6 months ago.

Basically, you just had to plot better. No last small changes of place, couldn’t call to tell someone you’re running late.

I don’t have a cell phone and have never bought one in my 34 years; but, I am plotting to get one before Christmas as it’s brilliant for emergency purposes and when I’m out alone running.
