Are there extra charges for using my USA cell phone in Canada?

I’m going on a trip from Rochester to Montreal, and was wondering if I can use my cell phone there without extra charges. Anyone know?

no. you will pay long distance roaming charges. even 2 hours outside the city you live in is considered long distance.

You know who would know? Your cell phone carrier. Perhaps it would be bet to contact them as Canadians use Canadian carriers.

It will depend on the carrier you have in the US and what programs they offer to you. Some can allow roaming in Canada with no charge while others will. You need to contact your provider for the best information.

Why not contact your provider to find out. You can even use your phone to call them. Different providers have different plans so there’s no ‘assess’ answser to your question without a lot more information. It would be simpler just to call the company and question.

I will buy the Cell phone in USA and Use it in India occasionally when I m in india.I’ll just remove the usa sim card and place indian cellular service sim card in the same mobile?Can I do that?

You will be able to use the phone you get is USA by inserting the sim card from another and back and forth or whatever.The phone may be locked but can always be unlocked to use any sim card.Phones can also be pricey in the US

It will only work in India if the phone is a tri-band phone. Question the retailer when you buy it. If it is not tri-band it will not work in India.

first business cell phones are the cheapest in India unless you steal from some where .

and you have to unlock your cell phone if you wish to use in India

only conundrum is that not much models are available in India.

You will also have to get it ‘de-blocked’ most American phones are blocked. I had to get it done in France –it cost about 15 bucks.
