What kind of cell phone company provide service without a free phone?

I have an used cell phone, and i wanna apply service for that. But i just need the sim card. I don’t need a free phone!!!

If you have an unlocked GSM phone, T-Mobile or Cingular will provide you a SIM and allow you to activate the phone on their network. You’ll probably be charged an activation fee, which is sometimes waived as part of the purchase of a “free” phone. In that case, you’re better off accepting the free phone and just swapping the sim card into your used phone.

If you have a phone from a non-GSM provider, they will usually allow you to activate it – provided it’s branded to their respective network and has a clear ESN (not reported lost/stolen or disabled for non-payment). If you have a Verizon phone and want to activate it on Sprint (or vise versa) however, you’re out of luck.

That depends entirely on the cell phone carrier. Many do offer that as a “perk” for their employees. Landline phone companies, cable companies, etc. do the same.

It’s not a guarantee that you’ll get free service, but it is pretty common.

Some places do. I had a friend who worked for Nextel before the merged with Sprint and he always had a completely free Nextel. When he moved he ended up working for a different phone company (honestly not sure which, sorry) but was sad because although he got a very good discount he did have to pay something per month, like a base rate.

Yes. Whether its at the kiosk in a mall or at the retail store itself. You get a free phone and can pick whichever one you want (one lady i knew got a blackberry) and your bill will be cheap. A friend of mine got a phone thru a family member and his bill was only like $ 10-20…. U dont just get one right then i think u have to be there for so long.. like a few months maybe. Oh, and my friend worked at sprint in atlanta she got a free phone I dont think she had to pay the bill either. so yeah
