The future of cell phones is that it will no longer be just a phone, but a mobile Internet computing device. It is the only device everywhere people treat it with such personal attachment that if you were sitting in the toilet and having a crap, you are very liable to pick up the phone call or Twitter out. Because of this personal attachment, new applications will be demanded of it, from being a mobile making a bet device to opening the curtains. So what will drive this new applications? Software! Just like a PC everywhere applications make a PC helpful in many respects to do many things, the mobile phone device will make a go to higher and higher routine general computing platform by less and less power and being able to function longer and longer without a recharge. Intel did a terrific job in convincing people to get a new PC that’s quicker than the previous; so will the new mobile Internet computing device to upgrade to a quicker Intel Inside. Then you can start to brag about your new mobile Internet whatyoumicallit with having 3 TB of storage with a 12 Mpixel video having a Quad Core processor running at 6 GHz with a 24 hour continuous connect time running the latest Microsoft Windows Mojavi.

The stage has already been set everywhere the obligatory input method is a QWERTY keypad and the output is a show that is as large as possible and still fit into a pocket. Thin is in and of course the future is a non-ridged form factor everywhere if you sit on it while in your pocket, it will bend and not break. Now’s cell phones have the 2G/3G, GPS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, while tomorrows will add 4G, UWB, wireless-HDMI, wireless recharging, RFID, universal remote IrDa, 11n Wi-Fi, free digital TV bands, etc., etc., etc. It’s never ending. Oh; and a minuscule nuclear power plant to provide enough juice to run it all.
