Q&A: If I put my smart chip from my cell phone into a pay as you go cell phone will I still have to pay as I go?

I was thinking about buy a pay as you go cell phone as mine broke and I don’t want to pay too much for a new one because my contract isn’t up in anticipation of February and I don’t want to start a new contract. So, if I just place my smart chip (or whatever that thing is called) into a pay as you go phone, would it work with my current at&t service without paying as I go, but just paying my cell phone bill?

Answer by Preston B
As long as the pay as you go phone is either cingular or at&t it will definately work. Buy the phone you want, then insert your sim card into the slot and youre excellent to go. Most of their sim cards are backwards-compatible bit If for some reason it wont work, take it to your local store and they will give you a new one for free. Use the go phone till feb then they will offer you the two-year discount on a new phone if you renew your contract.
