How do cell phone companies knock down the price of a new phone if bought with one of their cell plan?

Do they incrementally add the cell phone price to the service bill each month?

well the serivce charges they tack on help pay for that discount your got when you get a new phone on a contract. The cell phone service provider also subsidize the enhancement of those new phones so they really get them cheaper than they claim they cost. In answering the main part of your question yes they do charge it into your bill that is why if you try to cancel your contract they have those huge ahead of schedule termination fees.

The cell phone companies can offer you fantastic prices on cell phones because they are pretty much guaranteed they have you for the life of the contract (and if you do leave they will charge you a fee). You may have noticed the price of phones for prepaid services are nearly full price (that is because they aren’t guaranteed you’ll stick around).

So no, the price of the cell phone will not be added to your bill.

I need/want a new cell phone, but my contract doesn’t end for another 7-8 months (tmobile contract), and i have had my eye on the htc hd2 for a while. So i was wondering how long it takes for a cell phone price to go down and would it drop a small by the time my contract ends?

That phone just came out, so I would say the price won’t drop for a few more months. It will be lower by the time your contract expires, you might even qualify in 2-3 months for an ahead of schedule upgrade. Just call tmobile and question them about a ahead of schedule upgrade discount.

if you had contract you must use till it is over,there is another way,you can sell the phone to others.
for the phones prices down,it is not a valid date,some are down each week,but some are noe down for a mouth.you can usually pay close attation to the phone

it depends on the phone and the customer demand. if the phone is terrible, it will drop after 1 month. if the phone is excellent and many people like it, its hard to get a cheaper price. for price bring up to date, try to follows the news (forum, blog, information about the phone, etc). and about the price drop when your contract ends is certainly yes (if its 7-8 months) usually phone will drop even just a couple bucks (very small drop but it still a drop :p)

possibly you can find it as a certified pre owned threw t mobile i just got a Motorola droid from Verizon like that it was 285 but without renewing my contract or anything the phone was new some one just returned it for wtvr reason it has given me no problems works fantastic so im pleased with it =] just a few bucks more that if i had renewed my contract

The price will doubtless drop a small by then, new phones come out all the time. How long have you been with T-mobile though? The longer you have been with them, the more chance you have of getting a fantastic price reduction. I have been with them 7 being now, and recently called and said I was thinking of switching for the Iphone, and they gave me the current ad price on the phones I wanted even though I wasn’t eligible for a full upgrade for 11 months. It took like two phone calls to customer service, the first time say okay I’ll reckon about it can you make a note of that price delight, and then the second one they lower the price to the ad.
