Q&A: What is a good cell phone for kids?

Q&A: What is a good cell phone for kids?

I have 8 kids ages 3 to 10 years ancient. My 10 year ancient boy is going to snowboarding camp in March for a month. I am going to give him a cell phone for the time that he is there, but after he leaves, he’s charitable me the phone back, and we will use it as the kids phone mostly just for when someone goes out and may maybe use a cell phone to call me, or for the kids to talk on the phone sometimes. What kind of phone may maybe we get for that situation?

Also, my 10 year ancient will be starting middle school in the fall and we are thinking about getting him his own cell phone then. Should we get him a phone then or wait until he’s a small bit older? What kind of phone would be excellent for a 6th grade boy?
And what phone service?
Right now, my husband and I have Verizon but we are thinking about switching

I would get something really durable and make it one of persons “can only call two numbers” phones, like the Migo or firefly, so he sees that its just a way to contact you, thats all. i wouldnt get him one for school, 10 is too young, he has no need for it, his days are too structured at that age to need one, wait until hes at least 13 or in high school.

I would suggest going with sprint, there plans give you a lot more bang for your buck. For sprint, i would suggest the samsung restore witch has a full qwerty keyboard and a fixed nuberpad, pus it has a trackpad for simple navigation. It is a basic phone, but it is capable of going on the web for when he gets older. it rangers from $ 0-$ 50 depending if you buy it online or at a sprint store. also, if you were thinking of also switching to sprint, they have a huge choice of smart phones comparable to the Verizon droids such as the evo or the epic. Have a nice day!

she’s too young. My kids have cell phones but they are teen agers, have jobs and pay their own bill.

i reckon she is too young also if she wants a cell get her a fake one she doesnt need to be making “real calls” at her age

Answer by Summer H
That is a personal choice. Does she do afterschool activities? Because if it is just from home to school to friends to home. I would reckon no.

Verizon Wireless has a phone called the migo. There are up to I reckon 4 set numbers she can dial and recieve calls from. Additional than that, she is 8 she can be a social butterfly later.

Check into your wireless carrier to see what they offer. The verizon migo works GREAT for children in afterschool sports.

I have fantastic input on this subject. My 9-year ancient wants the same business. I have chose to get her a phone from verizon. I forgot the actualy name of this phone but it is calculated for kids. It only has 4 buttons. you choose which four phone numbers they can call. Example: Mom, Dad, Neighbor, Best Friend. Thats it! No Mobile internet etc.
