Q&A: Can I use my USB cell phone charger for my iPod as well?

The voltage levels should roughly be about the same right? It shouldn’t fry my iPod right?

My cell phone charger outputs 5.1V.
USB charger, iPod fits.

Not unless that charger has a stout end that matches the ipod/iphone exactly..chances are slim that it will fit the same.

I have a USB cell charger as well. I have used it for months for a iPod charger and nothing has happened to the charger, my phone, or my ipod. You’ll be just fine.

I heard on Excellent Morning America this morning that leaving a cell phone charger plugged in (even without an emotionally involved phone life charged) consumes power. I find it hard to accept that just leaving a charger in the socket consumes power. Any comments?

I agree with you. without a completed circuit it shouldn’t be consuming any power.

It cant unless its hooked to the phone the plug has 2 holes one to bring electricity in and one to take unused electricity back out to be discharged. If that were the case every business you had plugged in would use electricity whether it was on or not.

well, as hard as it may be to judge, it’s right. it does take off of your batteries power. my friend had to buy a new battery for her phone, after she left it charging all night. the battery just went dead. the public at sprint said that it may have been because of this

Well all I know is that it is terrible for the charger to be left plugged in without a phone emotionally involved.
