I want to buy a wireless signal booster for my cell phone. its a treo 650 and its unlocked . i have very bad signal in my house and get a lot of dropped calls. I am talking about those little stickers that come out on TV and they have them at Fry’s Electronics and at Walgreens and other places. Do they work? or should i not buy it. What carrier do you use? I’ve heard those signal-booster stickers are cheap, maybe $ 2? and have been told they work, but you might first want to get an updated sim card from your carrier IF you’re using at&t or T-Mobile.

I have been stuck with dial up internet because of where I live in the country. Recently, my daughter got a cell phone that is faster than my pc at downloading files and stuff. I have looked around the internet and saw that it is possible to use her cell as a modem, and my question is: exactly what do I need to do to do this? The cell phone gets 3G in town, but not at home, but the internet speed is still faster without it compared to my pc. Also, do you guys think I should contact AT&T for wireless internet? The signal at my home may not be strong, maybe 2 bars on a cell phone, so is there an antenna or power booster I could use if I go that route? BTW Satellite internet is out of the question.

Wireless internet through a carrier is normally capped at about 5GB per month. Meaning if you go over that you are charged per MB…which on a computer can add up quick.

You might want to explore other carriers such as T-Mobile and Verizon for their unlimited internet broadband adapters. If you’re going to be paying on it every month, you should be sure you’re getting the best performance at home. Most of these places have coverage maps and will be able to tell you have strong the signal will be at your residence.

I understand how you feel I live in the country to . I use Alltel Wireless and its ok but its not what I was used to with cable . Have you checked on dsl that might or there could be a chance of cable internet coming out that far. My advice is not to get the booster unless you just have money to burn . And just deal with with the slow speed because paying every month and the forking over 150$ plus for a booster isn’t cost effective .
