Telcel is the huge one, then movistar and unefon.

Telcel, Iusacell, Movistar, and I don’t remember the rest but with these you have enough, they all have pay as you go plans and you can buy refill cards even in the intersections of mayor streets, and any convenience store (tienda)

Telcel, like confirmed by basically everyone is the major company around there. But, if you are visiting from the United States and only need to make a couple of phone calls or you don’t care about the cost, you may want to look into changing your cell phone plot to international. I did this while I was out of the country and saved alot of time coming up in lines to use phones. My company was US Cellular and my phone worked throughout Cancun and the entire Yucatan Pennisula. I heard from one of my friend in USA that they have to pay for the incoming call when they answered the phone which calling from the country outside the US. Due to I’m coming to stay in US for a year and I want to get a cell phone for my family to call me. So I wanna know which cell provider is free for answer an international call outside the US.Please kindly help me to map this out.

OK. Whichever plot or cell phone company you get you get an amount of minutes like (600) for a certain amount a month. Well During Peaktimes you use persons minutes when u RECEIVE the call obviously when you MAKE the call. When you’re during Peaktime (during the day) and receiving an INTERNATIONAL call, you just use your minutes nothing extra is charged to you. THe GOOD business tho is that after 9PM weekdays and during the weekend, its FREE any when you MAKE a call or RECEIVE a call (when YOU MAKE the international call you will pay extra because you’re calling globally). THis is called also Boundless Nights and Weekend minutes. SO they can call you at night or the weekend for as long as you want!!!! (All plot have this so each plot you get you’ll get this )

Receiving International Call
During Day : Example 6 AM to 9PM
Minutes are used only (no extra charges)

At Night and Weekends
FREE (not minutes are used)
(This also applies for national/community calls)

Making International Calls
During Day:
Minutes plus International Long Distance Charges (depending by cell phone company)

At Night /’ Weekends
FREE PLUS International Long Distance charges
